Mortar fire training

Mortar fire training to take place on Camp Robinson this Wednesday, May 19 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the mortar range located on the north side of Camp Joseph T. Robinson near Cato. The sound of the mortar training will carry outside of the walls of Camp Robinson and may potentially cause concern in the surrounding area. This is a drill and only a drill.

North Little Rock Citizen's Fire Academy and more!

Our good friend Jack Finnegan just stopped by and dropped off information regarding the upcoming next North Little Rock Citizen's Fire Academy Session scheduled for June 2, through July 7, 2009. Classes will meet at the North Little Rock Training Building, at 2400 Willow Street for the first meeting. The remainder of the classes will be held at the Training Building located at the North Little Rock Airport.

Having gone through the citizens academy, I would strongly encourage you to consider it. The classes are very informative and fun! This class provides an overview of the North Little Rock Fire Department. It also has a lot of "hands-on" (such as putting on turnouts and air tanks, going up in the ladder truck, and much, much more! The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to the traditional fire academy.

So don't delay...call 501-340-5377 today for more information on or before May 22, 2009. Space is limited!

May 9, 2009...
Don't forget the 5th Annual Buzz-B-Q this Saturday, May 9 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. benefiting the North Little Rock Firefighters Local 35 Fallen Firefighters Memorial Fund. The event will be at the RV Park. Tickets are only $5 at the door. Children 12 and under get in free! For more information visit www.1037thebuzz.com.

And...when you finish at the Buzz-B-Q come on over to the Party at the T at the intersection of Main Street and Broadway. The block party begins at 4:00 p.m. Main Street will be closed from Broadway (3rd and Main) to 4th Street.

Robbery on McKee Circle

A robbery took place Tuesday morning on McKee Circle. A suspicious car (an old, dark brown Ford LTD) was seen at the residence by a neighbor after the owner had left for work. Evidently the robbers were "casing the joint" and returned about 30-45 minutes later and broke through a rear door. They took some guns and other items from the home.

Please remain aware. With unemployment so high, we need to be hyper-vigilant in our neighborhood. Be careful out there!
