E-mail address request

Our March NLAN Newsletter will contain a request for additional e-mail addresses to aid us in improving our communication levels within NLAN, both via direct e-mail communication and through our BLOG. We will be providing directions to assist our neighbors to submit their e-mail addresses. We hope that all our neighbors with e-mail addresses will come forth with them, and it will be interesting to see just how many of the 178 un-known property owners will add their addresses to our electronic communication links!
This is our first step towards improved communications within NLAN! It is our intentions to also develop a "Street Captain Program" that will allow us to implement a phone tree system to augment our ability in making sure every NLAN property owner immediately gets the word! Between phone and electronic communications we hope to have blanket coverage!

Crime: It’s not something that just happens ‘over there’

A resident of the Indian Hills neighborhood for 15 years said he walked a few of the blocks in and around his street to knock on 60 to 65 doors because a close neighbor experienced an attempted break-in. Let's do the same in our neighborhood. Keep you neighbors informed and let the blog know as well. TOGETHER we can fight crime!

Neighborhood Safety

Been trying to think of ways to make our neighborhood safer and I'd like
to share a though I had and see what others think. If each of us had a
tag or bumper sticker that identified each vehicle we drove as
"belonging" in the neighborhood., then we could more easily identify
tell who should be parked here. We'd have to have guest tags too.
Would like to get opinions pro and con and other ideas too.

Crime Alert

To All Northeast Lakewood Associated Neighborhoods Members:

Just received word that one of our neighbors, Dave & Jan Allmendinger, 7 Oak Tree Circle, today experienced a break-in of their home while they were gone during the day. Access was gained by kicking in their front door. A computer and jewelry are missing, and it appears the thief or thieves moved quickly through the home in executing a crime of opportunity!

This is the second reported theft that has taken place on Oak Tree Circle; the first one took place approximately three weeks ago. Therefore we know thieves have met with success at least twice in this neighborhood, and they may have decided it is worth it to come back again!

We can only suggest that you follow the old Boy Scout Motto of "Be Prepared"! Please refer to the NLR Police Crime Alert that we posted both on the NLAN Blog and via e-mail on February 27th. This alert contained many helpful prevention tips that we all need to keep in focus! We are not home at all times and thus the criminal element is aware of the opportunities to hit hard and quick. We must depend on our neighbors to try and watch for suspicious activity, and we must depend on our own home security systems, too! And by all means, if you have one make sure that it is turned on every time you vacate your home!

Once again, the NLR Police want you to call them whenever you question what you are observing, be it strangers on foot going door to door, or unknown vehicles slowly driving down the street, sometimes over and over (casing the joint).

Be alert! Be aware! Get to know your neighbors! Consider Investing in home security! And by all means - please be safe!

What do we do now?

Sure enough the POLICE were right - they hit Lakewood NE. They broke in my neighbors house right across the street in the day time and me looking for them... March 6 2008. WHAT DO WE DO NOW? The police already knew was going to happen.....
